The retired chief justice of the fifth Court docket of Appeals in Texas has acquired a rare reward from a former colleague.
The retired justice, Carolyn Wright, acquired a transplanted kidney Tuesday that was donated from her former colleague, David Evans. The surgical procedure was carried out at Baylor College Medical Middle in Dallas. Fox four Information and the Dallas Morning Information have protection.
Wright suffered kidney failure after she contracted pneumonia and sepsis. She informed Fox four Information that she was on life assist and in a coma for 2 months.
Different family and friends members provided to donate a kidney, however none matched. Evans, it turned out, was an ideal match.
“I really feel good donating my kidney to Carolyn,” Evans informed Fox four Information. “She’s a really courageous and brave lady to be combating for her life.”

Wright was the primary African American chief justice on an intermediate Texas appeals court docket. She was on the appellate bench in Dallas with Evans for six years.
